Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Nagpur to Pench

Your driver will collect you from your hotel, airport or railway station in Nagpur. The road journey to Pench generally takes around two to three hours, depending on the selected gate, traffic, road conditions and stops. The exact distance also varies because Pench has more than one entry area.

You can stop for breakfast, tea or a short break along the way. Families travelling with children or older guests can request extra stops. A private car makes it easier to plan the journey around your arrival time and check-in.

On reaching Pench, check in at your selected lodge, resort or forest accommodation. A property near the safari gate is useful because morning reporting times can be early. When choosing a lodge, check whether it provides an early breakfast or packed breakfast for safari mornings.

The first afternoon is kept relaxed. You can rest, walk around the property in permitted areas or speak with the lodge team about the next day’s safari. If an afternoon safari is available and fits your arrival time, you may request it as an optional first drive.

The safari route and vehicle depend on the permit system and the gate you select. Do not assume that a particular zone or vehicle will be available until it is confirmed.

If you do not take a safari on Day 1, use the evening to prepare warm clothing, water, binoculars and camera equipment for the morning.

Overnight: Pench.

Meals: Breakfast if included in the chosen accommodation plan.

Wake early for the morning safari. The exact reporting time changes with the season and is confirmed on the permit. Carry the original identity document used for the booking.

The safari vehicle travels through forest tracks, open meadows and areas near water. Pench is home to tigers, leopards, wild dogs, sloth bears, gaur, sambar, chital, nilgai, langurs and many bird species. Depending on the season, the forest may look dry and open or greener after rainfall.

Your guide and driver will look for signs such as alarm calls, pugmarks, fresh tracks and movement in the grass. You may hear a bird call or see a group of deer before anything larger appears. These details are part of reading the forest and can make the drive interesting even without a tiger sighting.

Remain seated and follow the instructions of the forest staff. Do not play music, shout, feed animals or ask the driver to leave the permitted route. The vehicle must keep a safe distance from wildlife.

Return to the lodge after the safari for breakfast and rest. The afternoon is kept free because the early start can be tiring. You can have lunch, relax at the property or review photographs.

If you have booked an afternoon safari, leave for the gate at the confirmed time. Afternoon light can be warmer and some animals may become active as the temperature falls. The final route depends on the assigned zone and current forest rules.

Return to the lodge after the safari. Keep the evening quiet and prepare for a possible final morning drive.

Overnight: Pench.

Meals: Breakfast if included in the selected accommodation plan.

Wildlife photographers and travellers who want more time in the reserve can take a final morning safari before breakfast. This option depends on permit availability and must fit the return journey to Nagpur.

A third drive can help you experience a different time of day and another part of the selected tourism area. It still does not guarantee a tiger sighting. Pench is a wild habitat, and animal movement changes from one drive to the next.

After the safari, return to the lodge, have breakfast and check out. Your driver will take you back to Nagpur by private car. You can stop for lunch or refreshments along the route.

The tour ends at your Nagpur hotel, airport or railway station. If you have a flight or train, keep enough time for road delays. Travellers who want to continue their wildlife holiday can request an onward transfer to Kanha, Tadoba or another destination, subject to the route and available days.

Meals: Breakfast if included in the accommodation plan.

Safari choices

Jeep safari
A jeep safari uses an open 4×4 vehicle and is generally suitable for couples, families and small groups. It provides a smaller vehicle setting and can be useful for photographers. The number of seats, allocated zone, gate and timing depend on the official permit system.

A jeep does not guarantee a tiger sighting. It also does not automatically provide a private vehicle unless the booking confirms that arrangement. Check the final safari details before travelling.

Canter safari
A canter is a larger open safari vehicle used for shared drives. It can be practical for larger groups or travellers looking for a lower-cost option. The vehicle follows the rules of the selected park and zone.

A canter does not guarantee a particular route, zone or tiger sighting. Availability depends on the side of Pench, date, permit type and current booking rules.
