You visit the Dariya Daulat Bagh (Tipu’s summer palace), Gumbaz (the mausoleum of Tipu Sultan and Hyder Ali), Tipu Sultan’s Fort, and the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple.

Overnight stay in Mysore.

After breakfast, you set out for a full day around Mysore city.

The centerpiece of the day is the Mysore Palace. This is one of the most visited monuments in India and the main seat of the Wadiyar kings. The palace is especially stunning when lit up on Sunday evenings.

From there, you drive up to Chamundi Hills and visit the Chamundeshwari Temple at the top. On the way down, stop at the massive Nandi Bull statue carved from a single rock.

Other stops on the day include Mysore Zoo, St. Philomena’s Church, and the Jagan Mohan Palace (which now functions as an art gallery). In the afternoon, you can explore the Devaraja Market for local flowers, spices, and incense.

Overnight stay in Mysore.

Drive: approx. 150 km / 4 hours

After breakfast and checkout, you drive from Mysore toward Ooty. The route passes through the Bandipur National Park and the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. You arrive in Ooty by afternoon. After checking in to your hotel, visit Ooty Lake for a short walk or a boat ride (at extra cost). In the evening, head to the Government Botanical Garden, one of the oldest botanical gardens in South India, and the Rose Garden, which holds hundreds of rose varieties.

Overnight stay in Ooty.

After breakfast, today is dedicated to sightseeing around Ooty and the nearby hill town of Coonoor, about 20 km away.

You start with Doddabetta Peak, at 2,637 metres the highest point in the Nilgiri range. On a clear day the views stretch far across the hills and valleys.

From there, you head to Coonoor and visit Sim’s Park, a well-maintained botanical garden. Then continue to Dolphin’s Nose and Lamb’s Rock, two popular viewpoints with wide valley views. Ketti Valley View is another good stop on this stretch.

Back in Ooty, visit a tea factory and tea museum to see how Nilgiri tea is processed and packaged. You can also pick up fresh tea at the factory shop.

In the afternoon, you have time to walk around Ooty town, visit local shops, or simply rest at the hotel.
